Organic Agriculture Training for Marginal Farmers
Fertilizer use is one of the most important factors in crop production, but heavy reliance on chemicals harms soil, water and health, and raises costs for poor farmers.
Since 2012, under its program on using organic fertilizer in crop production, DIA has run public awareness activities, training and seminars for rural people, especially marginal farmers.
Learning by doing
Farmers learn hands-on how to produce organic fertilizer and organic pesticide, grow organic vegetables and practise organic fish farming. Garden meetings let farmers share results and learn from each other.
These skills cut input costs, improve soil health and give families safer food and a more reliable income.
