Inclusive Education & Disability Inclusion

Inclusive Education & Disability Inclusion

Children and adolescents with disabilities in rural Bangladesh are often left out of school because classrooms, teachers and learning materials are not ready for them. Disability inclusion is where DIA began, and it remains at the heart of our work.

We promote equitable access to quality education for children with disabilities and out-of-school children, and we work with families, schools and the Department of Social Services so that persons with disabilities can take part in community life with dignity.

What we do

  • Disability identification and assessment
  • Provision of assistive devices such as wheelchairs and white canes
  • Adapted learning materials and inclusive teaching practice
  • Making schools and learning environments accessible
  • Observing White Cane Safety Day and other disability days with government partners
