Who We Are
In January 1997, with a commitment to the welfare of the underprivileged, Disability Inquisition Activities (DIA) (দিয়া) started as a voluntary organisation in Bishoykhali, a remote village of Maharajpur Union in Jhenaidah Sadar Upazila, about 200 kilometres from Dhaka.
From a small grassroots initiative that mobilised local volunteers, parents, youth groups and community leaders, DIA has grown into a national-level, non-profit organisation with five offices. We work across rural, border, coastal and disaster-prone areas, combining development and humanitarian action.
Guided by the UNCRPD, the CRC and the Sustainable Development Goals.
To build people-oriented, integrated socio-economic development that improves the living standards of the poor, oppressed and helpless people of Bangladesh.
To advance the rights, dignity and inclusion of persons with disabilities, women, children, adolescents and youth by creating employment, reducing poverty, protecting human rights, improving health, education and the environment, and supporting communities before, during and after disasters, working as a supporting force alongside the Government.
